Iowa Sunrise Processed
And here’s the processed version. I cropped it a little bit and intensified the colors. I brought out the contrasts in the clouds a little more and deepened the landscape to give it more of a complete silhouette. I also took the trouble to brush out the power lines because, well, I hate power lines. What do you think?

This one wins because the back lighting is more pronounced. I would have kept the power lines. Not that I like them either. To me they weren’t a distraction. Nice work on the clouds.
One of the great mysteries to me as a photographer is seeing how much more vibrant colors get when you dial down the exposure. The red and orange saturation was nudged up a couple of notches, but mostly I just fiddled with the darks and shadows.
I agree. I have been living in the “regions” sliders in LR4 lately.
This is a frame worthy shot, nice work!
Well done, but I didn’t even notice the power lines (I looked at both photos before I read anything).
Needless to say: I like this processed version better.
Thanks Cardinal!
This is beautiful!
I really like it. Red skies are so pretty. Thanks for visiting and the like of my post “Our Big Snow”.
