Aberration

Aberration

f 4.5, 1/125, ISO-100, 135

So Just a couple of days ago I was proclaiming how beautiful life is because I discovered that ditching my UV filter eliminated chromatic aberration on my low-end 75-300mm zoom lens. Alas, I spoke to soon. As I was looking through additional photos for possible inclusion on my blog, I ran across this one.

At first I didn’t notice anything unusual about it, but when I zoomed in, I noticed the telltale discolored lines. At first I hoped that these were artifacts produced by the editing I’d already done, but such was not thew case. I reverted the image to normal and the aberration was still there; if anything even more pronounced.

However, I will maintain that the effect is nevertheless greatly diminished with the absence of the filter (though enough that a photo with this property is not saleable, most likely).

  1. I share your thoughts — fighting a lot of the same problems with my Nikon D60. But the goal is to learn, develop and grow and for that, the equipment is well suited! You have some nice images in your blog, looking forward to more in the future.
