Shade Of Violet

Shade Of Violet

f/8, 1/125, ISO-800, 50mm

So I read somewhere that a great time to take a photo of flowers and stuff is right after a rain. I don’t do that much because I am terrified of damaging my equipment in a follow-up deluge. But I found some nicely-colored buds on a shrub in our back yard so I figured I would give it a shot.

I’m kind of undecided about the overall quality of this shot. On the one hand, it’s sharp and clear, and I got about the level of DOF I wanted (though whether it’s a good DOF is debatable). On the other hand, I think I over-edited it in order to create a good contrast between the greens and the violets. Partly, also, I was trying to compensate for dim light by pumping up the luminence. There are hard edge around the buds that I don’t care for and take away from the overall softness of the image. Anyway, here it is.

    • Fill light has rescued a lot of my shot, though in this particular shot I relied on the adjustment brush mostly and cranked down the exposure on everything but the tulip.
