Was swinging through town on my way back from attempting to photograph other things (abysmal failure) when I came across this muscle car, and thought I’d give it a try. I’ve never really tried to shoot autos before. I’ve heard it’s like shooting a mirror. OK. Never tried to shoot a mirror either.

Walked around this beautiful car a couple of times looking like a dog about to lie down, trying to figure out how to approach it. Tried a couple of things that were focused more on detail work, but they didn’t really capture the character of the car, so I backed off a bit and went for something broader. Once I got it into Lightroom I decided to play with the brick street some more. It was kind of blown out as it came out of the camera, but as I ratcheted down the luminance on the orange the street detail came back out and provided some interesting reflections in the chrome. Should have taken the time to put the camera on a tripod for an extra bit of sharpness, but it was there for a wedding, so I had to snap and run.

  1. ’65 GTO. My dad had one of these. It was very fun to drive. Here’s a link to a photo I recently took of the engine from one of these cars. Great photo.
