Senior 2

The next in my mini-series on the senior portrait session I recently did. I like this image a lot, I think because of the contrast between the warmth of her skin (thanks to a gold reflector) and the coolness of the frozen lake behind her. The shadow under her chin I fear is a bit sharp, but acceptable I think for only having access to a single light source. Still, I would be interested in techniques anyone finds helpful to soften shadows under these conditions.

My largest concern is actually with the post-processing, and I would be very interested in feedback from you experienced portrait photographers on whether I have overdone the softening. I softened the skin, but also added a touch of glow to the warm colors. The final effect is one I like, partly because I was able to keep such sharp focus on her eyes, but I’d be interesting to know what others think – particularly since I used the same technique in most of the other portraits which I’ll be posting in the coming days.
